ILLUSTRIOUS VISITORS AT ASSOUAN. HONOURS ON THE ENGINEERS. frRESS ASSOCIATION.! (Received December 11, 9 a.m.) CAIRO, 10th December. The Duke and Duchess of Connaught, the Khedive, and Earl Cromer, British Minister in Egypt, are visiting Assouan in connection with the inauguration today of the Nile dam. Sir Benjamin Baker, Consulting Engineer to the Egyptian Government, has been made a Knight Commander of the Jiath, and thd Grand Cross of the Order of St. Michael and St. George has been conferred on Sir W. E. Garstin, Undersecretary of Public Works "in Egypt. Both were prominently connected with the construction of the Assouan dam.
