FROZEN MEAT.
DISCUSSION BY THE FARMERS' UNION. [bt tkleobaph— ntEss association.] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A meeting of the Executive of the North Canterbury district of the Farmers' Union was held for the purpose of meeting a deputation from the South Canterbury district on the subject of the frozen meat trade. Mr. Cleland introduced the question of frozen meat distribution in Great Britain, and proposed that a sufficient guarantee should be given to shippers for any possible loss that may result to them in sending to provincial ports with the object of opening up new markets. Mr. Orbell suggested the formation of an Advisory Board in London and in the colony to consult as to price, distribution, and quantities of delivery, with the object of organising a better system for* the disposal of New Zealand meat. A large amount of detail work was considered in connection with the question, and it was decided to correspond with the blanches informing them of (lie business done. It was also decided to join the South Canterbury Executive in a deputation to the Premier on the whole question of frozen meat business, and to put before him, the needs of farmers in this direction. The f=ubjeet of railway rates on frozen meat was considered, and a deputation was appointed to wait on the Minister of Railways to put the matter before him.
