TH EEASTERN TRANSVAAL.
The London Mail correspondent writing from Pretoria on 19th February said that the demoralisation of the Boors in the Eastern Transvaal liad become «o marked that it wus impossible to refrain from calling attention to it. From all sides, both north and south of the Delagoa line, reports to hand showed the reluctance with which the burghers continued the struggle. A message had been interrupted from General Piet Viljoen to Mr. Sohulk-Burger which urged the latter to do something to counteract the spirit of surrender rife among the burghers. The influence of the Boer leadefs over the burghers, which has always been remarkable, is, according to the correspondent, even now strong enough to prevent anything like a general surrondor. The energetic campaign carried on by means of Colonel Wools-Sampson's system of intelligence and the energy of General Bruce-Hamilton has not been without effect, and has undoubtedly broken the Boer resistance in a most important quarter.
