THE PACIFIC CABLE.

[PKISSS ASSOCIATION.] LONDON, 9th November. It is officially announced that the Telegraph Construction Company's tendor for the Pacific cable is £1,895,000, -vifch miscellaneous and supplementary expenditure amounting to £80,000, making a total of £1,975,000. The company has xmdertaken to complete the line by the end of 1902 if alallowed to start at the New Zealand end and work backwards across the Pacific. The Oable Coimmittee's engineers made their estimate of £1,467,659 before the rise in gutta percha. The Committee unanimously recommends the accept ance of the Construction, Company's tender.
