GENERAL DE WET DEFEATED.
HEAVY LOSSES OF THE BOERS. LONDON, 27th October. A force under Major-General Barton scattered General De Wei's commando at Frederickstud, inflicting heavy loss and capturing prisoners. Later. The Royal Scots} and' Welsh Fusiliers showed distinguished gallantry. Thirteen of them were killed and twenty-eight wounded. The enemy abandoned twenty - four dead and nineteen wounded. Twentysax were captured. Three Boers who fired treacherously after having he}d up their hands were court - martialled and shot.
