RATIFIED AT LAST. THE AMERICAN SENATE ACCEPTS THE PEACE TREATY.

INTENSE EXCITEMENT OF THE NATION. [PKESS ASSOCIATION-] (Received February 8, 9.30 a.m.) Washington. 7th February. The crucial division in the Senate on the question of the ratification of the Treaty of Peace drawn up by the Hispano-American Peace Commission, which lately sat in Paris, has taken place. The ratification was carried by 57 votes to 27, out of a total Senatorial strength of 90. For some time there were two doubtful votes, but the recent attack of the Filipinos on Manila practically decided the question. In the course of a discussion, Senator Gorman predicted that it would take the United States troops years to conquer the inhabitants of the Philippines. There is intense excitement throughout the nation over the decision.
