ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

[by telegbaph — pbess association.] Haweba, This Day. On Saturday evening an old settler at Teroti, Mr. George Roach, took a drink of bird poison by mistake, and died iv great agony soon afterwards.

Two men named Houston and Dwan were engaged in a claim at Renni, West Coast, in bringing up a deep tail-race through some loose dirt when the sides caved in, almost covering them up. Luckily they were soon discovered, and released. Dwan was buried up to his arm-pits, whilst Houston had the drift and water oozing into his mouth, nearly smothering him.
