THE PROPOSED BOARD OP TRUSTEES. fPBKSS ASSOCIATION.! (Received Deoember 2, 11.30 a.m.) Melbourne, This Dat. The new Railway Bill, as finally revised by the Cabinet, provides for the appointment of five Trustees, the Minister of Railways to be ex officio their Chairman, their salary to be .£750 each. They will be given the entire control of the lines, with power to appoint a General Manager for a period not exceeding five years, who will be subject to their jurisdiction All the property vested in the present Commissioners will be transferred to the Trust. All the employes will be subjeot to the control of the new authority, but the rights and privileges of the employe's will be closely preserved. When Parliament authorises works whioh prove unprofitable, or makes any direction for the increase of expenditure or decrease of revenue, the loss is to be made good by animal appropriation. No speoial expenditure can be undertaken by the Trust without the sanction of Parliament. The olauses in the draft report ordering the disbandinent of several Unions in the Service have been eliminated, as it is thought their retention might block the passage of the Bill.
