VICTORIA'S PRODUCE-CARRYING CONTRACT. | PRESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received December 2, 11.30 a.m.) Melbourne, This Day. Arrangements have been completed with the Gulf Line of steamers for the direct monthly carriage of frozen produce to Manchester (vid the Ship Canal), Liverpool, and Glasgow. The contraot docs not come into operation till May, but if sufficient freight offers it is probable that one or two steamers will be despatched before. The rates are:— Meat and butter, |d per lb ; cheese, 15-1 M ; rabbits and poultry, 75s per ton ; fruit, 4s per case.
