BALLARAT IN DARKNESS.
♦ SERIOUS EFFECTS OF A STORM. ("PBXSS ABFOOIATION.] MjtLßOtnftjK, 27th August. A severe storm has ooourred in the Ballarat distriot. Many buildings have been destroyed, and several others unroofed. Telegraph lineß are down in all directions, and the town is in darkness. A mixed train from Maryborough crashed into a heavy iron semaphore blown aoross the line, but luckily smashed through it. The passengers were considerably shaken.
