THE VOLUNTEERS
There was an exoellent master of 53 of all ranks, nnSer Captain Collins, at the weekly parade of the City Eifles last evening. Every man paraded with the new weapon reoently issued. Probably this is the erst active armed with Martini rifles. 1 Instructions relating; to the oare, 4c, of the new arm were given by the oaptain, and the men were exercised in the drill affected by the change of weapon. It wasnotified that next Monday -night Liout.-Col. Newall will personally inspeotthe oorps, at 7.30 p.m. _ ihe final Morrii-tnbe shooting competition for Mr. Turner's prize by the membeni of the City Eifles took plaoe last evening at the DnlUhod. It was a very olose and exoibng contest throughout, the struggle for first plaoe between young Howie and L»rkin being most interesting.
