EUGBY UNION. A special general meeting of the Wellington. Rugby Union was held last night in the. Exchange Buildings. There were 15 delegates present, and Mr. J. P. Firth, one of tho Vioe-Presidenfs, ooonpied the cbair. Mr. J. N. Grant withdrew his motion in reference to a player transferring his Eervices from one olub to another. Mr. A. T. Bate moved, Mr. Jaoksoni seconded, and it was oarried, " That the, seoretary of this Union shall at the end of the football season forward to the secretaries of the Wellington Crioket Association, Wellington Football Association, and any other bodies whioh may hereafter desire to avail themselves of, this provision, the names of all members of clnbs posted as defaulters by the club secretaries ; nrd that the Wellington Eugby Union, on receipt of similar lists from reciprocating bodies, shall debar members inoluded in such lists from playing with any affiliated club or on any ground under its control nr.til the amount for which he has been posted ha? been paid." The question of playing an annual match with Canterbury was brought up, and the following resolution was carried, on the motion of Mr. W. Coffey seconded by Mr J. H. Payni :— " That in the opinion of thi» meeting an annual fixture with Canterbury is desirable, and that the matter be left in the hands of the Management Committee to deal with." A letter from the Referees' Asaooiation with reference to the Union taking steps to see that the players ac better acquainted with the rules, was referred to the Management Committee. The question of tbe state of one of the Petone grounds was referred to the Management Committee to deal with. Mr. W. Coffey moved, That the delegates to the Kew Zealand Rugby Union be instruoted to bring before the latter body the advisability of instituting jnnior representative matches with the Northern and Southern Unions.". Messrs. Bate and M'Kenzie opposed the motion, and nltimately its consideration was deferred till next meeting. Mr. Coffey gave notice to move at the next meeting — " That the senior seleotion committee shall be eleoted by the senior delegates at the annual meeting, and that the jnnior seleotion oommittee bo eleoted by the junior delegates at the annual meeting." THS BBPSBHS' ASSOCIATION. A beginning was made last evening with the examination of members of the Eef erees' Association on the rules of the game. Messrs S. Moholls, J. Gamble, G. Fache, Gibeon, Finueane, M'Konzie, and F. Seagor were examined by Mr. J. P. Firth. The referees for next Saturday's matches are as follows :— Senior — Poneke v. Wellington, Mr. J. Gamble ; Athletio v. Petone, Mr. J. P. Firth (by agreement between the olubs). Jnnior — St. Patrick's College v. Melrose, Mr. Peroy (by agreement between the elnbs) ; Oriental v. Selwyn, Mr. A. Campbell ; Petone v. Poneko, Mr. Ward; Athletio v. Welling, ton, Mr. S. Nicholls. Third-class—Welling-ton v. Selwyo, Mr. Gibson ; Melrose v. Oriental, Mr. Seagar (by agreement between the olubs).
