HARBOUR BOARD.

A special moeting of tho Harbour Beard was held yesterday afternoon. Present— Messrs. T. J. Gale (Chairman), J. Jack, C. W. Browne, F. H. Fraaer, J. H Heaton, E. Pearco, Captain Rose, and the Mayor. The by-laws re danger' U9 (roods wero adopted, and ordered to come into force on the Ist May. Tho regular monthly mettiug was then held. Leave of absenco was granted to M-. Petherick, who ia seriout-ly ill. Tho Treasurer reported that tho credit balances of the bank accounts were as follows :— Current account, £5438 3s 4d ; imprest wages account, £375 j fixed deposit account, £31,180. The following payment were approved : — Accounts and wascß, £1945 18s 3d j progress on contracts, £1277 9s 4d ; sdnries for jipnl, £399 10s Id : total, £3622 17b Bd. The Chairman repor-cd as follows : 1. That the tender of Mess.-s. Briscoe, MaoNeil fnd Co. had been accepted for the supply of 170 tons of cut and punched steel hoops and li tons of studs tor £1392 4s Id. 2 That Briecoe, MaoNeil and Co. had elected, in lieu of finding bondsmen, to make a cash deposit of £180, which had been placed on fixed deposit for xix months with the National Bank. 3. That when possession was* taken of boatshed (license No. 7a) at Clyde - quay, resumed by direction of the Board, it was found not to be worth repairing, and that it was therefore proposed that it should be p jlled o'own and removed. 4. 'J hat the Govemor-in-Counoil had approved the planß submitted for the construction at Hawtrey Bay of a. wharf by Mr. J. H. Williams. Tho report was adopted. The Wharves and Accounts Committeo recommended— l. That the letting of the office and stevedores stores in the wharf sheds remain as at present, except that in future the New Zealand Shipping Company (Limited) and Shaw, Savill & Albion Company be charged eaoh £5 por annum for the übo of the storrs for stevedores' gear. 2. the consideration of a request made by some fishermen ot tho port that provision should bo made for them of a special sheltered anchorage with a landing placo for their fish, and a shelter shed in which they oan store their gear, remain in abeyanoe until the City Council come to a decision as to the erection of a Fish Market. 3. That Mr. E. D. Bell be authorised to appear on behalf of tho Board in the case of HarriDgton y. the Board (a claim for £501 damages for injuries sustained in falling over tl,e •ailrcay vointa on the Kailway Wharf ) 4. That the application to tho Governor by the City Coum-il to proclaim ns a street a piece of land for widening Customhousequay at the old Bite ot tho Queen's Bond in accordance with the deed between the City Council and tho Boat d dated October 18SK), bo approved. 5. 'liatan allotment by the New Zealand Loan and Meronnti'o Agency Company (Limited) of debentnro stock and fc ip cf tho nominal valno of £59 18s sd, being 87J per cent, of the amount of the i j i bt owing by tho old company £.J8 9a 7d at the titrto of its suspension, be accepted 6. ■J hat tenders be invited for the extension of Shed G, on tho middle tee of the Queen's Wharf 'lho Board went into committee to receive the half-yearly report from tho Commissioners of Sinking Funds &0., and to open tendera for contract No. 77. On tho Board resuming, it was reported that four tenders had been received for the erection of fahed O, Jervois-quay, and the lowest tender would be accepted.
