'A oiroular letter has been issued by Mr. John Mnrray to shareholders in the Bank of . New Zealand recommending tbe eleotion of Mossrs. William Booth, R. H. Glyn, Hon. ' W. W. Johiiston, Martin Kennedy, and T. • G. Macarthy, as direotors. The names, with • the exception of Mr. Glyn, are those men- • tioned by us on Wednesday, when we said the fifth would probibly be Mr. John Murray. Mr. Glyn takes his place in tho list, but only stands to aot temporarily, as it is thought expedient not to fill up the fifth ¦ S.V* 00 yet k y ft P er manont appointment. The other gentlemen are recommended as eminently qualified for tho office of Direotor." A Mr, John Howie, of Tho Willow*, Pnlmerston North, bnt who professes -to «6 about to remove to Wellington, is Allotting proxies as a candidate for a Beat ou tho Bank of New Zealand Directorate. Mr. Wat-on, Inspector of the Colonial Bank, returned from Drmedrn to-day, and it is probablo that the negotiations for the amalgamation of the Colonial Bank and the Bank of New Zealand will be at once resumed. The terms, it is thought, will be arranged very epeedily now.
