FOOTBALL.
The South Canterbury football team will arrive by the Penguin at midday to morrow, and leave the same afternoon for Nelson and Auckland. ■ A meeting of the Wellington Referees' Association was held last evening, Mr. G. Fnclie in the ohair, when it was decided to ask Mr. S. Nioholl and Mr. J. P. Firth to referee respectively in a trial match this afternoon and the match against Marlborough next Saturday. Mr. J. T. King was eleoted Chairman for the month. The Mariat Brothers' and the Clyde-quay sohools tried conclusions this morning, the match resulting in a draw. Osborne Boored for Clyde-quay and Drisooll for the Marist Brothers' school.
