A Defaulting Volunteer Imprisoned.
[Bt Telegraph. J [united press association.) Gibborne, 10th September. An aotion of considerable importance to volunteers has been taken here under the Defence Aot. A volunteer who was fined £8 for absence at parades was arrested on an order of the offioer in charge. The term of imprisonment being eight days for £2 penalties, the man was imprisoned, but subsequently paid his fines. This is the first case of the kind under the Act.
