St. John's Presbyterian Church.

? Tho foundation stono of tho new Church of St. John's is to be laid to-morrow afternoon, at 3 o'clock, by his Honour tho Chief Justice. Thia church replaces tho one destroyed by fire on the 9th of May of last year. Botn church and aohool were then destroyed. For a time the oongregation worshipped in the Athenamm Hall, but now hold their services in the hall of the new schoolroom jrhich they havo ereoted on the site of the rormor one, and they will continue to do co till the now church v opened. The new school cost about .£1300; the land purohased to enlarge tho site, with the dwell-ing-house upon it, ooit JeisoU; and the contract for the new chnroh is £5469. To meet these amount*, there was the insurance money, J23500, and about an equal sum raised by subscription. They will atill leave a considerable debt, which it is hoped, however, will not prove over-burdensomo. The new church is in the early decorated style, has a handsome tower and spire 150 feet high, and when finished will be a beautiful and imposing structure. It will be seated for about 750, and there is an organ and choir loft that would seat SO moie. An order has gono home f«r ane w organ.
