Dr. Newman announces that ho will address tho electors of tho Foxtoh Electoral District at Otaki on Tuesday, the 25th inst., and at Karori on Thursday, tho 27th inst. The Feilding Guardian publishes a rumour that tho Postmaster-General is to bo opposed by a Feilding candidate for the Manawatu Beat. Mr. A. W. Ronall addrossed a large meeting of the electors at tho Mastertou Town Hall on Wodnosday ovoning. He expressed himself opposed to an Upper Chamber, in favour of a reduction in tho number of members of tho House of Represontativos, of improving Local Government, and handing the Sheep and Rabbit Acts and the management of lands over to countios. If ho had power, he said, ho would endeavour to regulate the oost of government S3 ac to relievo pooplo of tho bnrdonsome taxes they now eudurod. Ho spoke strongly against payment of members, except tot bond fide expenses, and condemned the legislation on tho subject of rabbit extermination. Ho would never bo a parly to any classs legislation, but would always protcot tho intorests of all classes of tho community. Ho advocated tiding over the Native difficulty, if possible, but wonld not oripplo the Government in dealing with to serious a quoßtion. A vote of confidence was declared carried by 90 to 25. A vote of thanks had beon proposed as an amendment, but Mr. Ronall said he was not preparod to put up with a voto of thauks. lie was not a candidate yot, and if only a voto of thanks woro given, ho would never be one, Tho mooting was orderly throughout.
