ELECTION INTELLIGENCE.
? Mr. W. T. L. Travers, one of the candidates for Te Aro, has retired from the contest on the ground that as Mr. Charles Johnston is standing on the same platform as himself, if both went to the poll thpy would simply split one another's votes. Mr. Travers, therefore, thinks it better that he Bhould withdraw. Mr. X Stafford will address the electors of To Aro at the Arcade this evening.
