Auckland, 17th October. Mr. John Shepherd has announced himself a candidate for Rodney, in opposition to Mr. Seymour T. George. Mr. Richard Hobbs addressed a meeting of electors at Kawakawa, Bay of Islands, and was well received. This Day. Major Harris addressed a crowded meeting of his const tnents last night at Otahuhu. Mr. Frank Lowry contests South Franklin against Major Hamlin. Thames, 17th October. The Mayor, Mr. Wilkinson, was interviewed by a number of citizens this morning, and asked to allow himself to be nominated ab the ensuing election for the Thames borough, but dec!ined. Oascaru, 17th October. Mr. T. Duncan is out for Waitaki Mr. James Ashcroft, editor of the Otago Times, iB mentioned as a probable candidate for Oaniaru. Air. fchrimski will also stand for Oamaru. Mr. J. A. Barr, solicitor, is a candidate for Roslyn. Invercargill, 17th October. In response to an influential invitation, Mr. J. T. 1 homson, late Surveyor-General, will contest tho seat for Mataura. Over 200 names were, during the oour3e of Friday and Saturday, added to the Invercargill roll. Hamilton, This Day. Mr. M'Minn to-day formally notified his candidature for Waipa.
