Our Auckland files to the Sth inst. have come to hand by tlie Albion, and we regret to have to announce the destruction by fire of the New Zealander newspaper establishment. The New Zealand Herald says :—: — A fire unequalled in respect to its magnitude since the great conflagration of thenew Q.C.E. occurred last night between the hours of ten and eleven o'clock, in the New Zealander office involving, we regret to say, the complete destruction of the building and of a large quantity of valuable plant, type, paper, fixtures, &o. We have been informed that the building and material of the NewZealander offices are insured to the amount of between .£4OOO and £5000 in the Auckland Insurance Company, ¦£1000 of which we understand has been transferred to another company. There is also a further insurance of ,£2OOO or £2500 in the Royal Insurance Company. The only portion of the property and material attached to these premises that can be said to have escaped scatheless, is a portion of the type and materials, such as stationery, &c, enclosed in the fire proof store immediately adjoining the rear of the premises burnt down.
