Doyleston
MEETING OF BAZAAR COMMITTEE
Fourteen members were present last evening at a meeting of the committee formed to hold a bazaar in
aid of the hall extension fund, Mr H. Smith presiding until the arrival of the chairman, Mr A. Quigley, jnr. The secretary, Mr W. H. Fussell, reported that the socials held oh Saturday evenings had continued to be well patronised and profits were made at each. The total sum already raised from all bazaar sources was approximately £100. Good progress was being made by the stall-holders in preparation for the sale of work. The secretary was instructed to make enquiries for a band to play at the bazaar, to report to the next meeting. Miss X Welsh donated two dolls to the committee and these had been dressed by Mr Welsh. Thanks of the committee were accorded to the donors, also to Mr A. Bishop for a donation of five pounds of tea. These gifts were allocated to stalls for disposal. The Saturday night dances will be continued after the bazaar. LARGEST ATTENDANCE YET The attendance at the social and dance held at Doyleston on Saturday evening in aid of bazaar funds, was the largest yet obtained at any of the series, indicating that interest in the objective is still strong and there has been no falling off in popularity. Lambie's Band played the music for the dances, while extras were played by the Methve'n Pipe Band. The most successful card players were Messrs A. Duff and C. Bishop, Me'sdames Rickerby and H. Smith. A; Monte Carlo was won by Miss Young and partner and another competition by Miss Peggy Mercer.
