The residents of Springston 8011 th as sombletl in the Soldiers' Memorial Hrl '.o bid farewell to Miss E. Garland anj Mr T. Memory, who arc about to bo married, and remove to South Canterbury. Songs and musical it/epis occupied the first part .of the evening, Svhilsi dancing fololwed. Mr E. J. Ha;'n:s (chairman of the Entertainment Com mittee) in making the presentations— i silver teapot suitably inscribed {•:■ Miss Garland, and a handsome clock !o Mr Memory—referred to the high °stecm in which the guests were held and to the loss the district Avas sustaining i.i their departure. Mr Memory suitably replied on behalf of Miss Garland am.! himself, whilst Mr C. Garland also replied on behalf of his daughter. The two local picnic resorts —Cos's Ferd and the Sclwyn Huts —were liberally patronised during the Easter holidays.
