By a Gazette just issued, it is an* nounced that a small grazing run of 1437 acres m the Blue Mountain Survey District, MarlLorough, will be open for selection at Blenheim on Friday, 18th August, 1899, under lease for 21 years, the rental being 2s per acre per annum. With the assistance of the young lads Mr Griffin eventually extricated the horse from, the harness and got home.

Another of the enjoyable series o* popular entertainments conducted unde r the auspices of St. John's Church, Leeston, took place m the Parish Room belonging thereto, on Wednesday evening last, When a' r fair attendance was present. The se3ond part of the programme was made up of Gramophone records, supplied by Mrs Ehodes's instrument. The records were most entertaining, several of the very latest items being reproduced. Songs and other items were supplied as follows : -^-Songs by the Misses Burns, Lunn, Mclnman, Kennie, Spring and Ewenson. Mr Gr. E. Ehodes also sung. Mr W. H. Evans contributed a recitation. Pianoforte solos were played by Misses Lunn and G. Hammond, the former lady acting as accompanist.
