Drs. Valintine and Shore paid a visit of inspection to the Vincent and Maniototo Hospitals last week.

Pending the appointment of a permanent Minister, the Rev Mr Simpson will conduct the services in the Presbyterian Churches in the Clyde-Alex-andra District.

Miss Clarice Craig of Earnscleugh, the Country Queen in connection with the Alexandra Fire Brigade Carnival, had the honour of being at the head of the poll, and was declared Queen at the Bazaar on Saturday night. Miss Jennings, M.A., a missionary on furlough in N. Z. from Hong Kong, is at present visiting Central Otago. She has given interesting addresses at all the main centres, in each and every case to good attendances. It is interesting to note that Miss Jennings is not unknown to the Sunny Central, as some years ago she was the popular mistress of the Naseby School.

Her many friends would doubtless be distressed when they learned of the sudden death of Mrs Kirker, a well known and esteemed resident of Alexandra. She had been an inmate of the Dunstan Hospital for some time and had just left the institution with a veiw to spending a few days in Clyde, when she suddenly collapsed and expired- The funeral t-akeg place at Alexandra this afternoon. As a mark of respect the Clyde Croquet Club sent a wreath.

The farewell social to the Rev. James and Mrs Robertson, at Alexandra on Tuesday evening last, was a repi’esentative and most enthusiastic gathering. Theye is no doubt that the guests of the evening were immensely popular, not only with Presbyterian folk, but with all shades of the community. Mr Ashworth made the presentation of a cabinet of stainless cutlery, and in doing so, expressed the great regret felt by all at their departureMr John Smart, the olelfgt elder present, and Messrs W. Lopdell, F. R. Bould (Clyde), R. Kinnaird (Earnscleugh), and R.
