CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor

Sir, Regarding the ridiculous mail service to Earnscleugh. I should like to take advantage of your columns to raise my voice in protest- Our Tory Government (which professes to foster the interests of dwellers in the back blocks) through its P- & T- Department supplies us with a mail only one day a week. Talk about the "dizzy limit" ! Well surely we have it here-The reason given is that the service does not warrant any further expense- Well I won't join issue with them on that score, but, of course, could. What I do complain of is the want of commonsense shown by those in authority. One of the staff of the * Clyde Post Office, who lives within a very short distance of the Office at Earnscleugh, goes to work daily. Surely advantage could be taken of this fact, and dwellers in this locality given something like a reasonable service- At present the position is intolerable. I am Etc-, Up to Date. Earnscleugh, Oct- 14th.
