SOLICITOR GENERAL ON CRIME IN U. S. A.
"Our Criminal Courts_show an unprecedented increase of crimes. Pending criminal indictments have increased from 9503 in 191 2 to over 70,000 in 1921. Approximately 30,000 cases arise under the Prohibition statutes. But even eliminating these, there yet remains an increase of nearly 400 per cent." Thus the SolicitorGeneral of the United States addressing the American Bar in September last. Whether Prohibition increases crime or not, there is no dodging the fact that under Prohibition America has had the greatest crime wave the world ever saw. Prohibition in New Zealand would open many new avenues for lawbreaking. Vote Continuance!
