FRUITGROWING.

There were about fifteen fruitgrowers present at the meeting of the Central Otago Fruitgrowers Association, held in the Earnscleugh School on Saturday evening. Mr Bennetts, of Roxburgh, was present and addressed them on the matter of the export of fruit for next season- Mr Bennetts, who is a member of the Export Committee was present at the recent meeting of the Committee held in Wellington- 'ihe Committee had waited on the Minister of Agriculture on the question of export subsidy, and had been successful in getting the Government to reconsider its decision on the cancelling of the subsidy. The Committee was making enquiries into the possibility of securing a market for New Zealand apples in South America. The South American market would take big apples which the English market did not want, moreover no cool storage would be necessary to ship apples to South America. The result of the committee’s enquiries would be made known later. The annual meeting of the Fruitgrowers Co-op- takes place at Roxburgh on the 28th inst- A return of the year’s business shows satisfactory progress.
