HOCKEY.

Hospital Benefit. A Hockey match was played at Alexandra on Saturday between the Clyde team and a team selected from the combined Alexandra Club and High School. There was a good attendance at the match which was played as a Hospital Benefit, and with the Govt subsidy, the Hospital will benefit about £ls. The match was keenly contested and resulted in a draw 2 goals eachFrom the bully off play was at once taken to Clyde quarters where the Alexandra girls set up a keen attack. A free hit relieved the situation for a short time but play was soon taken back, and a goal was shot but an infringement had taken place and Clyde was awarded a free hit. The Alexandra girls however were not to be denied and a goal resulted from a scramble in the circle. Clyde livened up a little after this and play went up and down the field very fast. About a minute before half time, E. McSwan with a smart pass to the centre placed Clyde in a good attacking position and HKeddell with a smart shot landed a nice goal for Clyde- Play started sensationally in the 2nd spell, H- Keddell from the bully ofl securing possession and going right through the whole of the opponents scored a nice goal. Practically the whole of the second spell Clyde attacked, but could not score although they had numerous opportunities which were not taken. From a good rush by Alexandra a nice goal was scored, the ball being handled by several players. This was practically the only time during the second spell the Alexandra team looked dangerous as Clvde attacked practically the whole time, and Alexandra had had werk to save over and over again by conceding penalty corners. At the call of time Clyde was attacking strongly but could not find the goal. On the play Clyde was unlucky hot to win as they were much fitter than the Alexandra girls, and had easily the better of the game after the first twenty minutes. For Alexandra N. Olsen was easily the pick of the backs, saying time and again especially in the second spell. For Clyde EAnnan played a very safe gameH, Keddell made some nice runs but was inclined to overrun the ball- A- Hepburn also played a good game-
