FOOTBALL.

The Clyde School team visited Alexandra on Saturday when they played a return match with the Convent. The visitors won by 14 points (tries scored by J. McArthur, R. Waldron and C Larking 2, the last named converting one) to three. Otago defeated Auckland on Saturday by II points to 3. Much interest is centred in the visit of the Otago team which takes place this week. There have been one or two withdrawals from the team selected, but good men have been obtained to fill the places, and it is pleasing to know that it will be something like a representative one. Last years team was scarcely second grade, and country players learned nothing. The primary object of these visits is of course educative. The Vincent team to meet Otago at Clyde on Thursday •will be the same that met Maniototo. The Heriot Tournament on Saturday drew strong competition. The Tarras team (Jenkins, -McLoughlin, Stewart, Peterson, S. Jolly, Pickering & Campbell) are to be congratulated on winthe senior competition.
