The match New South Wales v. Otago was resumed to-day. Bain fell in the morning, but the ground was drier than when a start was made on Saturday.

When New South Wales wont in a smart shower fell and made the wioket greasy, but Moore was caught last ball before the adjournment. Cowley and Mackenzie carried the score to 50, when Lawton bowled Mackenzie for 27. Cowley was bowled by Hope in the next over for 17. The wicket was now drying fast. Austin and Walford took the score to 72, •when Austin was thrown out. Searle oame next, and Walford was nioely caught for 14. Gould joined Searle, who was dismissed with a trimmer at 75. Daviß made 7, when he played one on. E. Noble joined Gould, and completely changed the aspect of the game, the partnership putting on 88 when they had the luck of a tain squall ooming on, which made the ball so greasy that it could not be held. Gould was bowled after making a splendid 43, and the Noble brothers were together. _As the. soore mounted up to 184 the excitement was intense, as one run was required to save a follow on. Hope took E. Noble at shortleg, and Miller was the last man in. A run was stolen. If Hope had only returned the ball clean New South Wales would have had to follow on. As it was they played out time, the ecoro being 185 for nine" wiokets.

Play will be oontinued to-morrow. The New South Wales men positively decline to commence playing till noon, which means of course that the match will he drawn.
