SUICIDES.
Auckland, I his day. A native youth named Nama Poroua Amakaraka has shot himself at Waotu, near Cambridge. Ho had been crossed in love. He was noticed to leave tho settlement, and two shots Avere fired. His relatives went to sec Avhat was the matter, and arrived in time to see tho third and fatal shot fired. He had tied the gun to a tree, and pulled the trigger Avith a string*. The man who cut his throat at the Mongonui Bluff Hotel has proved to have been William Lawlcr, gum digger, formerly of Goth Regiment. He had tried to droAyn and bang himself on the previous evening. 'A.'man named Michael Haydon took "Rough on Rats" at his lodgings last night. Ho Avas sent to the hospital. It is not known bow tho case will eventuate. Haydon is alleged to have been drinking, business matters troubling him.
