INSPECTION OF VOLUNTEERS.
To-day our little village was all alive, ifc being the annual inspection day of the Waiuku Troop Royal Cavalry Volunteers, and of the Waiuku Rifle Volunteers. There were 35 officers and men of the Waiuku troop present, who were subjected to a serere drill by Captain Harris. The Rifles mustered 70 rank and lile, and were drilled alternately by Lieutenant Alexander, Ensign. Hennessey, and Sergeant-major Mowbray. Major Lusk, commanding the district, was present during the parades. — A meeting of both corps was then held, with the view of ascertaining the feelings of members towards the formation of a benefit club. A resolution in favour of such, a club was, after a lengthy discussion, negatived by a large majority.
