LATEST THAM ES NE WS. MINING. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Saturday.

Pridb of Ka.ka.ka.. — The retorted gold obtained front the specimens has been melted, and turned out Il4oz. About 130!b. of stone were crushed: hence the rate per lb. is I7dwt. L3gr. nearly. Alburnia Company.— The fortnightly return was banked to-day, and amounts to nearly 460z. To account for this low yield it is only necessary to state that the sfcone crushed was taken out ol branch, veins ; the main lode was »ot touched. i Bull's Machine. — Yesterd<y a trial parcel of six tons was oleaned up, and gave the eminently satisfactory return of 10i>z. 13dwt. This morning 5| tons of Atlantic stone were finished to a return of 4^02. Ufa. Company. — The usual fortnightly cleaning np took place to-day, and resulted in a return of 9loz. 13dwt. melted gold. Only about two-thirds of the quantity of stone crushed during the previous fortnight were disposed of during this one ; and, more over, all the atone came out of the Duke of Edinburgh side of the ground. The Loyalty leader contributed nothing. Hence, the return may be considered as a decided improvement on latter yields. Golden Crown.— 2390z. 16dwt. melted gold have been extracted from this mine during the past week ; 146 tons were crushed — 100 at the company's own mill to a return of 1730z. lldwt., and the balance at the Tararu machine. I'apo.— A parcel of 14oz. 12<lwt. of gold was lodged at the Bank of New Zealand today by Mr. Buckland. Cokomandel —Sundry parcels of gold, weighing in the aggregate 200z., were disposed of to-day at the Bank of New Zealand. Tramway Machine. — Two trial lots from the Cape of Good Hope, Moanataiari, were cleaned np to-day, and will be retorted tonight. Both batteries are now crushing Dauntless and Sink to Rise stone. Junction. — This mine is turning out better than ever, if one may accept the show made on the tables of the battery which is crushing the'stoue at the Kurauui machine as a criterion to go by. The laat lot crushed paid handsomely, and yet little or no gold wa3 taken off the tables, the boxes having retained nearly all of it. This time the gold appears outside, and hence it is inferred that the quality of the stone has improved. Point Russell. — The crushing for this mine at the Moanataiari machine also promises s, payable return. i \ ild Missouri.— The black reef has j been cut in the tunnel this week, at a distance of 750 ft. from the entrance, and there shows a large and promising-looking body of stone. This level commands backs of between 200 or 300 feefc on the lode, and, should the stuff only prove payable, the company have several years of steady straightforward work before them.
