TE HIRA AND OHINEMURI.
The TJiames Advertiser of Saturday, in a leading article on the Ohinemuri question, remarks : — ' 'We understand that Mr. Mackay. who is acting as .Te Hiras agent, had communications from him before the sitting of the Court, and has since seen both him and , Mere Kuru. Te Hira, we are informed, has fairly agreed to appear before the Court, saying that he wished, to be the last to speak. We can, however, see so many dangers ahead, that people had better not make any calculations or preparations upon the supposition that the country will be opened within any specified time. It is possible that Te Hh'a may be anxious enough, to show that those men who have had the lands surveyed, and who now claim, have no right as against liiin, but niay not be solicitous to use any title he gets from the Court to forward the opening of the country. The Hauhau party, also, may muster strong at Ohinemui'i next week, and may influence the other section powerfully. We understand that the Queemte section are in strong hopes that the land will now be opened. Natives are gathering at Ohinemuri from the East Coast, Piako, and Waikato, and Ohinemuri will next week be a busy place." Saturday evening's Graliamstown Star says :—": — " We understand that the p.s. ' Williams' has been engaged to convey native and other visitors from Auckland to the Native Lands Court, which opens at Ohinemuri on Monday next. The ' Olyde' will receive the passengers at Grahamstown, and convey them, to the Upper Thames^ The Court will be held in the large Hauhau meeting-house, opposite Ropata's village, and known as the Pai of Hauraki."
