LATER FROM TAURANGA.

The schooner 'Tauranga,'- Captain >*Moller, > returned from Taurangtf yesterday morning, after a good run of twenty -four hours. We learn that the late gales, which blew with suohj violence in Auckland during l*ftt week, have, also been very heavy on the fi East Coast ; but no serious damage has been sustained so far as we can learn. A , capital site has been selected for the new -wharf to be built at Tauranga, and for which tenders ara now invited. . The erection of the telegraph is being pushed forward. Native matters are at present quiet, and nothing is known of Te Kooti's precise whereabouts. H.M. s. ' Virago' was expected at Tauranga to take the place of the 'Kosario.' Captain Moller also informs us that the particulars we recently published respecting the upsetting of a native canoe, by which 16 Maoris lost their lives, were correct.
