RE-APPEARANCE OF THE PRINCE IN PUBLIC.

Hi* Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh attended by Dr. Young, of ELM. s. 'Galat6»,' Lieut. Haig, R.A.,Lord Newry.aadthe Hoq.E. Yorke.took an airing in his Excellency the Earl of fielmore's carriage yesterday morning, and, on passing down George-street, was greeted throughout with tremendous che»ra. H.R. H. repeatedly and courteously acknowledged the warmth of his reception. At the banks and principal places of business flags were hoisted in honour of the event, and the whole city suddenly renewed its many-coloured garb of rejoicing. Hi* Royal Highness proceeded through the suburbs, past the Railway Station to Coogee Bay, round the borough of Randwick, and back to Government House, receiving in every direction at he passed along the most enthusiastic greeting, and fervent and unmistakable evidence of the love and affection of the people. It is ardently hopsd that the Prince, before he leaves the colony, will frequently repeat this reassuring token of his confidence in the people of Sydney. We understand that the period of his Royal Highneai's departure has been definitely fixed for Saturday next, the 4th of April, and that h* will proceed direct to England. — Empire, March 28.

On Saturday last, his Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh made his second appearance in public since his recovery from the effects of the murderous attack upon his life ; and manifeitations of loyalty and joy at his recovery met his eye on all sides. Never before was the city dresied out so prettily with flags as on Saturday, and the suburbs were all liberal in their display of bunting. His Royal Sighness, accompanied by Dr. Young, left Government House in a phaeton and pair (drhren by the Hon. Eliot Yorke) iv the forenoon, and drove through Macquarie-street and William-street, out by Rushcutter's Bay to the South Head. His Royal Highness called on Mr. Thorn e, and kindly, inquired after that gentleman's health. We are happy to state that the wound in Mr. Thome's foot is healing very nicely, and he anticipates being able to use the foot again very shortly. On the return of his Royal Highness from the South Head, he called on Mr. E. 8. Hill, at Woolahra, and took luncheon with that gentleman, returning to Government House in the afternoon. Yesterday morning his, Royal Highness the Prince, accompanied by bis Excellency the Governor and the Bishop of Sydney, proceeded on board the 'Galatea,' where the Bishop conducted Divine worship, and preached before his Royal Highness and the Governor. His (excellency the Earl of Belmore and the Bishop left the ship at about 1 o'clock, but his Royal Highness remained on board to luncheon, and did not return to Government House till late in the afternoon. It is hardly necessary to state that his Royal Highness is recovering his health and strength daily and hopes are entertained that in a short time the effects of the wounding will have entirely disappeared. We understand that no date for the departure of the Prince, has yet been fixed upon, but it is not unlikely that he will leave very shortly after the after the arrival of the mail via fanama. — Herald, March 30. A Urge number of seamen and marines were brought ashore yesterday morning, and his Royal HighnMs spent a considerable portion of the day in drilling and inspecting them. In the afternoon his Royal Highness went for a drive, and wa9 much gratified at being nnce more abe to handle the reins. On Sunday, the 29th ultimo, special thanksgiving j was offered in all the churches, for the recovery of j his Koyal Highness.— lbid., March 31.
