FATAL ACCIDENT AT SHORTLAND TOWN.

John Nolah, proprietor of the Orpheus Hote\ Queen-atreet, has been drowned in the creek at Shortland Town. Nolan, it seems, left Auckland for the Thames on Friday in the steamer ' Enterprise,' and it is said that when he left he w«s somewhat the worse for liquor. He had alio, it appears, two glasses of ale while on board tne steamer. On the arriral of the 'Enterprise' at Shortland Town, Nolan went. on shore, being assisted by OHara, formerly of the Auckland police. Be was left on the bank, and nothing wai seen of him till next morning, when Captain Scon noticed his body floating in the creek. Information was given to the police, and the body wm got out. 'An inquest waa held on Saturday, at which a verdict of " Accidentally drowned" was returned. The body was brought up last evening in the steamer * Clyde.'
