WELLINGTON TROTTING
STAKES TO BE RETAINED
At a meeting of the Trotting Association the Wellington Trotting Club asked permission to delete from its programme the 1945 Wellington Stakes, but members considered that till all owners had been notified it would be advisable to keep the race on the programme. In reply to Mr. OUlvler, who asked what authority the association had to make tills rule, Mr. Kitchlngham said it was governed by ordinary law. If a man contracted with a club to start In a race it was a race. The club had been advised to keep the race on the programme and had no right to cancel It till all owners had agreed. The club had made certain promises which should be fulfilled.
