ALDERMAN SPEEDY OVER THREE

HAWERA, October 17. This morning conditions were ideal for the training operations of Hawera horses to race at Waverley on Labour Day. The plough track was mostly used and was in fast order. Colonel Plato (Mills) showed no recurrence of his bleeding disability and finished up a round of pace work by running three furlongs in 40. The maidens, Mr, Cute (Clutterbuck) and Sublime Fox (George), galloped five furlongs in 1.4, the first three in 384. They finished together. El .Tiger was given solid pace work, and similar tasks were aportloned to Houdini, War Effort and Adrigoole. . . , v Aiderman (Lewis) sprinted brilliantly over three furlongs in 374, the last two in 34. Black Salve (Clutterbuck) and Silver Chain (Potroz) ran five furlongs in 1.6, the last two in 26. Silver Chain finished a shade in front. General Saleve (Flower) easily held the Malibu gelding in a sprint over three furlongs in 39. Black Plato, after workngi solidly, was still favouring his injured leg. Fort Royal is making pleasing .progress and soon will be ready to be sent along. Comrade (Lewis), from as low start, sprinted three furlongs in 38 4-5. Clarice was restricted to half pace work, which she was eager to increase. On the outside of the course proper Vermete (Moore) registered a smart sprint over three furlongs in 374. Peter s Choice (Potroz) was doing easily alongside Queen’s Melody (Clutterbuck) at the completion of four furlongs in 53J. The two-year-old Drambuie, W’ho was omitted from the list of acceptors for the Nursery Handicap at Waverley, finished in front of Chllworth (Holland) over three furlongs in 39. , . , Plans for Battledress have been changed and he will now race in the Waverley Cup on Labour Day.
