Victory Loan Progress “FUNERAL OF FASCISM” TODAY Subscriptions to tbe Victory Loan of £40,000,000 now total £23,953,697, and there arc six days, including a Sunday, to go before it closes. If it is to be fully subscribed £3,200,261, must be invested on each of the five remaining weekdays. Wellington has now subscribed 52 per cent, of its objective of £4,674,000. At noon today a pageant representing the “Funeral of Fascism” will traverse Wellington from the Railway Station to Unity Corner. The parade will be headed by the Trentbam Military Band, and the Police Pipe Band will appear also. . . A banner, “To World Leace and New Order,” will be carried by a doctor, worker, graduate, farmer and housewife, and a banner. Hasten y Day,” will be borne by service personnel. The Young People’s Club will be associated with the parade. The parade will culminate in a pageant at Unity Corner. The Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Holland, the Bishop of Wellington, Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, and other representatives of the community will be present. The mayor, Mr. Appteton, will preside. . At Victory Corner the Kilbirnie Sports and Wrestling Club will present a bright variety programme, preceded, by a short visit of the “funeral procession. New Investments. Trade union stock investments continue to come to hand. The Wellington Clothing Trades Union have invested £5OO, the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Musicians’ Union £oo and the Wanganui 'branch the Wellington Labourers’ Union £lOO, bringing the Labourers’ Union total to £llOO, the Grocers’ Sundries and Chemical Workers’ Union £lOO, and the Engineers Union have increased their investment to £3OO. c . ... REFERENCES IN HOUSE

Four more members of the House of Representatives spoke in support of the Victory Loan during the sitting of the House yesterday afternoon. The discussion of the Estimates was interrupted to enable the speeches to be broadcast before the radio shut down at 5-15 P-m. The Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr. .Sullivan, said there had been a gratifying response since the previous day’s appeal by the Prime Minister and others in the House and over £1,200.000 had been subscribed on Wednesday. There wn s still over £2,500,000 required daily before the closing of the loan on October 4 to ensure its full subscription. Advice had been received that the A.M.I*, had announced it would subscribe (mother £300,000 to make its total £1,500,000 The National Mutual Life Company was subscribing £200,000 and the Auckland Savings Bank advised that it would put in another £250,000_ to bring its total subscriptions to £1,750,000.
