Vice-Regal. Government House, Wellington, August 24. This morning his Excellency the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the T. G. Macarthy Trust Board held at Government House. This afternoon her Excellency Lady Newall presided at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild held at Government House. Commissioner J. Evan Smith, of the Salvation Army, has returned to Wellington from the South Island, where he has been conducting youth councils and inspecting social welfare institutions. Sir James Elliott, Professor Charles Hercus, Hon. W. J. Rogers, M.L.C., Dr. Muriel Bell and Mr. 11. F. Toogood had their appointments as members of the Board of Health gazetted last night. Mr. C. G. Trotter, Hawera, general manager of the Farmers’ Co-op. Organization Society of N.Z., Ltd., has been elected president of the N.Z. Woolbrokers’ Association, and Mr. C. E Holmes, manager of Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., Wellington, vice-president.
Mr. G. E. Fowler, secretary-manager of the Central Hawke's Bay Power Board, is a visitor to Wellington in connexion with the activities of a Dominion committee set up by the New Zealand Power Boards’ Association to report on the question of baek-eountry reticulation
