FORDELL
Dominion Special Service. The New Zealand. Loan and Mercantile Agency Ltd. report that there was a large attendance of buyers from the Manawatu, Taranaki, Rangitikei and local districts at the Fordell sale. The firm submitted a yarding of approximately 400 cattle and 500 sheep, which came forward in quite good order. Several lines of hoggets met with good competition, with prices showing a substantial advance on previous reports. In Die cattle section the firm offered some of the best fat and forward bullocks that had been yarded for some time. Buyers operated cautiously and bidding was dull throughout. Consequently prices did not reach vendors’ reserves, and passings were frequent.- However, many of the passed-in lines were afterward sold privately. , , ■ • Prices realized were: Good ewe hoggets, 26/7 to 27/1; good wether hoggets, 26/-; b.f. hoggets, 15/6 to IS/-; fat bullocks, £lo to £lB/12/6; forward bullocks to £ll 16/-; light fat cows, ex dairy, to £7/2/6; three-year S.H. cross steers to £7/15/-; Hereford cows b.r.w.
