WOMEN OF MANY NATIONS

Finding Them Employment In Britain In the name Of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, Caroline Haslett, a vicepresident of the international federation and president of the British Federation, has formed federation members and other business and professional women of the many nationalities. now resident in Britain into the International Women's Service Groups. The purpose of this undertaking is not only to promote social and cultural exchange, but also to secure employment opportunities for women of other nationalities now living in Britain. Miss Eleanor Rathbone. M.P.. speaking at the first meeting of the new organization, said that to register the qualifications of these women would be of value not only to the women themselves, but also to the British Government, which is in need of additional women power to meet war conditions. She suggested that units of these continental women be formed to correspond to the Auxiliary Territorial Service, the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force and the Women’s Royal Navy Service: also that special labour exchanges be set up for foreign-born women.

Another speaker at this first meeting was Miss Searle, of* the International Labour Department of the Ministry of Labour. She said that a Central Employment Exchange for the various national groups was to be set up: 5000 non-Britlsh women were available for service in London alone. She said that there would be no difficulty in securing employment for industrial women and separate provision would be made for professional women.
