FRIENDS FAREWELLED
American Consul And Wife Entertain There have been many farewell parties recently for Mr. and Mrs George Bliss Lane, who leave Wellington today for Auckland en route to America by the Monterey. Mr. Lane, who has been Consul for the United States of America in New Zealand for several years, has been appointed United States Consul and secretary of the Legation at Bagdad, and he is returning to Washington before taking up his new post. On Thursday, to bid farewell to their many personal friends, Mr. and Mrs. Lane gave a cocktail party at the Hotel Waterloo. Mrs. Lane wore a smart hostess gown of white slipper satin with a jacket of soft blue and silver lame. She and her husband stood for two hours receiving and saying farewell to their many guests.
