OTAKI QUEEN CARNIVAL
Effort Toward Patriotic Appeal In support of the £1,000,000 patriotic appeal, Otaki, Te Horo and Manakau are organizing a queen carnival. Five queens have been decided on, three from Otaki and one each from Te Horo and Manakau.’ The queens are: Miss Margaret Taylor.(Navy),.Miss M. Carkeek (Army), and Miss K. D’Arth (Air .Force), Otaki; Miss Isabel Kirker (Victory), Te Hoi-o. Manakau has yet to make a choice. Because of the State school-gala-next Wednesday, under the organization of the headmaster, Mt. Adarms, the carnival committee has decided not to proceed with the campaign till after the school children have made their -effort. ' Supporters of the Navy Queen, Miss Taylor, held an enthusiastic meeting this week. Miss Taylor was attended by her princesses, Misses Mary Clark, Sally O’Rourke, Edna and Eleri Ralph, Dulcie Taylor and Margaret White. An intensive campaign, was outlined at the meeting, and it will be put into operation immediately after the school gala next week.
