CROWNING CEREMONY AT BELMONT
The queen carnival held at Belmont, during the past few weeks to raise the district quota for the £1,000,000 Appeal Fund, ended recently when the crowning ceremony was held. Little Loraine Fife, representing the navy, who was elected queen, was crowned by Mrs. J. W. Andrews, mayoress of Lower Hutt. Her attendants were Heather Walker, representing the army, and Jillian Hurst, representing the air force, in place of Nancy Carlisle, who was unable to be present. Flowers and gifts were presented to those taking part, and Howers were also given to Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. Diamond and Mrs. A. J. Gearing, A dance, which was largely attended, brought the day’s celebrations to a close.
Baby Photographic Exhibition
The PluiikcL Society in Wellington will hold a I’Junket baby photographicexhibition in tlie D.I.C. lounge from May 20 to 31. There will be six agegroups for single babies, and two for twins, and prizes will be awarded for each group. Awards will be made according to popular vote, votes costing Id. each. The object of the competition is to raise funds which are urgently needed to carry on the society’s work.
