ADDRESS TO W.W.S.A.
Miss Evelyn Gardiner On Women Of England
Miss Evelyn Gardiner, of the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, addressed a meeting of women under the auspices of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary at the Masonic Hall, The Terrace, Wellington, on the part of women in the war. She gave an interesting account of conditions in England and the part that women were playing there, and narrated some experiences of her own in raids on London. The talk was listened to with rapt attention, and those present went away with a feeling that they had not only learnt something from Miss Gardiner’s experience and advice, but that they had been stirred with her enthusiasm and patriotic outlook to exert themselves still more to see that women did their full share in the task of winning the war. At the conclusion of Miss Gardiner’s address she was entertained at afternoon tea by the Wellington District Committee of the 'Women’s War Service Auxiliary, Mrs. R. Semple, the chairwoman, being hostess.
