Lift Users Contribute lo Patriotic Effort
An instance of individual effort toward the colloetion of Wellington’s quota of £lOO.OOO for the National Patriotic Kund of £l.ooo,ooois provided by a young woman in charge of a lift in a large city building who lias instituted a "copper trail” and who collected 30/- the first day and £2 on the second. Users of her lift are requested to .subscribe and some do so to the extent of a silver coin. There are no discovered instances of escape by the surreptitious use of the stairs. It is pointed out by the executive committee of the carnival that others desiring to make a similar effort should apply for approval to the committee by letter to P.O. Box 1-101, Wellington. If Hie collection is to be made on behalf of any particular Queen application should be imide to her committee.
