U.S. PLANES FOR BRITAIN
Ninety Per Cent. Of Production
(Received February 5, 8.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 4.
It is learnt from a Government source that 90 per cent, of the United States’ aircraft production was sent to Britain in December and January, and. that the number sent may exceed 1000 a month bv March.
After the passage of the Aid to Britain Bill formulas are expected whereby the United States will send planes already attached to the army and navy, including. Flying Fortresses, to Britain in sufficient numbers to back up the British defence against the blitz. Planes ordered for Britain but not yet produced would then be assigned to the United States.
